We all want to feel good, right? Imagine waking up from a good night sleep, feeling refreshed and ready for a new day! But instead, many people are feeling like they are:
Dragging through the day
Caught in a wash rinse repeat cycle of life
Running late and and feeling rushed
Does this sound like you? If so, a sacred morning routine could transform your world! If you want to change how you treat yourself internally (which only YOU truly know) and:
Stop beating yourself up for little mistakes
Release the feelings of agitation and frustration that surface through the day
Get into alignment
Then having a sacred morning will change your entire day.
I describe a Sacred Morning as my space of spiritual devotion, a time of reflection, a portal into my heart. Every morning I set aside about 30-45 minutes to step into this sacred space with myself. This intentional time allows me to quiet my mind so I can hear the subtle voice of the Divine speaking to me and guiding me.
But where does one start on this journey?
Learning to create the time and space for yourself begins with your intention. It begins with knowing you are worth it. The great thing about establishing a routine is that the routine then works for you, even when you don't feel like it. You have built something and put something in place that pays dividends.
So let's revisit the topic of setting your intention. Your intention is what creates the flow of energy to move towards that which you are seeking. When you focus upon a point, that point moves closer in your awareness. So if you set your intention on having a sacred morning, soon the time and energy it takes to create a sacred morning will appear. Below are three steps to help you get started.
The 3 Steps to creating Your Sacred Morning
If you don't feel confident in creating your own sacred routine yet, then here are 3 super simple tips, and we break down a few other ones in our Free Sacred Morning Recipe, but this is a good place to start. Simplicity is usually the most successful approach to moving energy. 1. Waking up 45 minutes earlier
2. Going to bed Earlier 3. Picking a Spot
Now lets break down why these 3 things are so important:
Waking up Earlier
Ugh, I know, "here is another person trying to interrupt my sleep." LOL. I get it, you love your sleep and I do too. But here is the thing, having a great morning starts the day before. Waking up earlier comes from having enough sleep because you went to bed earlier. This shift allows you the space to carve out these 30 - 45 minutes to fill yourself up. There is such a specialness when you wake up and have time for yourself. You are worth this shift and change.
Going to Bed Earlier
I will say it again, having a great morning routine starts the day before. It starts with an earlier bedtime, because this allows you to get the sleep you need to feel rested. You need to figure out how much sleep you need to feel your best and then work backwards to do your equation. Here is an example:
Be at work = 9:00am
Getting ready/ transportation process: 2 hours = 7:00am
Sacred Morning: 30--45 minutes = 6:15am
Need 8 hours of sleep: bed time = 10:00pm
Obviously adjust as needed for other tasks, but starting with a template can be very helpful. If you don't know how long all these morning tasks take, then just time them - starting today. (Pro tip: this exercise will also help with your time management.) Just remember, you are worth going to bed earlier.
Picking a Spot
Knowing where you will do your sacred morning routine is more important than you may think. When you wake up, you don't want to have to stumble around searching for a spot. Ideally you want this space carved out for you ahead of time. Once you find your spot, this space begins to hold the space for you, making it easier for you to step into. So I encourage you today, to pick a spot, put a candle and your favorite personal development book there and make the commitment to give it a try tomorrow.
