Self-Care is a form of Soul-Love

Taking care of yourself is one of the best investments you can make in your life. I know you are busy and have a lot going on. Once in a while, stop for an introspective moment. Take some time to meaningfully check in with yourself! It can be a great and explorative way to start your self-care regimen.

Every so often, stop and ask yourself:

“What do I really need—right now—that I can give to myself?

Whatever the answer, try to find a five minute way to fill yourself up with that desire.

I encourage you to get creative here.

Let’s say you ask yourself that question and you hear, “I need a massage.” Great, now you are listening to yourself! If you can find the time to do so, schedule a massage. Then tell yourself that you are listening and honoring yourself. If however, fitting a massage into your schedule seems difficult, look deeper.

Ask yourself what you think the massage would bring you. Let’s stay you hear “relaxation.” Ok great, now we have found the true need: relaxation.

The next thing you want to do is make a list of 5 things that relax you.

Here is the catch. Your list can only have items that take five or so minutes and are within your reach.

Here are some examples to get you started:

1. Soak your feet in hot water

2. Turn on Zen music in the background

3. Light some candles

4. Give yourself a hand or foot massage with lotion

5. Do some yoga poses

6. Go outside look into the sky and take some deep breathes, etc.

Anything can be on your list, however silly or creative it may be!

The goal here is self-care through relaxation. Your next step is to do one of those things and focus on relaxation.

Remember, taking care of yourself is one of those investments that will pay you back for the rest of your life. Self-care can ultimately lead to self-love (which can lead to Soul-Love) and this is the practice that will help you to create a new beginning and manifest your dream life. Understanding how to actually fulfill your specific needs will transform your perspective and open up new opportunities to learn about self-love.
